Participants in our 2023 Savor Travel Adventure explored the beautiful music and exquisite cuisine of Ottoman Sephardic Jews starting in Athens and then via an eight-day cruise aboard the luxury Oceania Marina. From meeting with Jewish community leaders in Athens to a private tour of the remains of Ephesus with a Jewish focus to our chartered day on the Mediterranean in a traditional Turkish wooden gulet, Savor created special experiences throughout the trip. After docking in Istanbul, we shared a very memorable three-day experience including a food walking tour, an exclusive hands-on cooking workshop with chefs Susan Barocas and special guest Sibel Pinto, dinner sailing on the Bosphorus and a Ladino music concert featuring Sarah Aroeste and special guests Izzet Bana and the Estreyikas d'Istambol children's choir. The group also enjoyed a Friday night Shabbat experience complete with a delicious dinner of Sephardic specialties, singing and camaraderie at Ortkoy's Etz Ahayim Synagogue.
